Transportation

“Once we’ve picked goods for despatch, we’ve finished”.

That may be the case if you aren’t in control of your own distribution vehicles but many of our customers are. In which case, transport planning is an important part of the supply chain jigsaw.

Managing your warehouse and vehicle workload to meet the requirements of your customers requires an earlier process decision to be made. How many drivers and vehicles do I have and what are their constraints? How many loads do I need to deliver and will the final customer be available after 5pm? Integrating our Journey Planning module with your WMS gives you control over your resources; for example, priority routes that need to be picked first and loaded in a particular order, the printing of appropriate manifests, the driver debrief and proof of delivery management.

Through simple processes being managed more effectively and with better information comes more accurate and quicker invoicing and better cash flow. That’s something you can’t afford to disregard when looking to reduce operational costs.

That’s why Journey Planning is used (with or without MACS WMS) by a number of companies throughout the world to help manage distribution of drugs, chemicals and consumer goods.

"We were looking for a company that would provide a core system to manage all our transport and warehousing and could provide a solution that was flexible enough to grow with us. We are delighted with the service we’ve received from the MACS Software team and the systems they’ve installed are more than meeting our expectations."
