MACS and International Aid

In addition to its UK and European business MACS is proud to have a very successful programme working with the US Government supporting SCMS (Supply Chain Management System) on the PEPFAR programme (President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief), part of USAID. USAID promotes peace and stability by fostering economic growth, protecting human health, providing emergency humanitarian assistance, and enhancing democracy in developing countries. MACS WMS solutions help the aid industry to distribute anti viral drugs, in Sub-Saharan Africa, South America and Caribbean islands. These efforts improve the lives of millions of people worldwide.

About PEPFAR - The United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief

Launched in 2003 by President George W. Bush, PEPFAR holds a place in history as the largest effort by any nation to combat a single disease. In the first five years of the program, PEPFAR focused on establishing and scaling up prevention, care and treatment programs. It achieved success in expanding access to HIV prevention, care and treatment in low-resource settings. PEPFAR supports programs worldwide, and focuses its efforts on 15 heavily impacted countries in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean: Botswana, Cote d'Ivoire, Ethiopia , Guyana, Haiti, Kenya , Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam and Zambia. During its first phase, PEPFAR supported the provision of treatment in an accountable and sustainable way:

• Prevention of 7 million new HIV infections
• Treatment of 2 million HIV-infected people
• Care for 10 million people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, including 4 million orphans and vulnerable children
• Prevention of mother-to-child treatment services during nearly 16 million pregnancies

MACS warehousing and logistics solutions
